Is it worth purchasing Deagol? I've been trying to get a copy for a while now, but can't seem to locate a copy for a decent price. I have Folio 50; lovely big book.

Personally I would say yes if you find a reasonably priced copy. It is a handsome volume.
It adds info to books published before 1996 and also includes full details of the 1997 Tolkien editions and also the deluxe editions.
I am a bit of an anorak for these things though!

Yeh, I remember Wayne & Christina mentioning (here on TCG) about some piece of information that was in Folio 60; it sounded worthwhile purchasing. I take it it's a big, big volume (i.e. physical size) like Folio 50?

A few additional editions of The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales and The Children of Hurin added today.
The Children of Húrin paperback that YOU called 'Overseas' was published in april 2009, not 2008, according to: https://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Children- ... collsguid-21&linkCode=osi
My first impression copy is dated 2008, as is my 4th impression copy.
In my experience, I find that the dates given on Amazon need to be taken with a pinch of salt. Sometimes the date given is the date of a reprint rather than the first issue.
I seem to recall that this edition was initially only available in a boxed set with The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales. The Amazon entry dates this as December 2008, but again, how reliable that is I don't know. I bought my set in May 2009, but it had been available for some time before then.

Deagol, tolkien.co.uk lists the standard hardback of Children of Hurin as having a publication date of 1 August 2013. I wondered at the time if this meant there was a second edition coming out, but it didn't seem to materialise. Do you have any thoughts on whether this date is significant? E.g. is it just a reprint of the first edition, or possibly an error on the website?
The same date appears on Amazon. No idea of the significance.
Has anybody bought a copy in the last 6 months?
The "Look Inside" preview is a 12th impression and includes The Fall of Arthur in the other books section so must be fairly recent. My suspicion is that the preview file was updated in August 2013, but that is little more than a guess.
