That's exciting news about the Scull and Hammond Revised!

My Facsimile First Edition Hobbit arrived today (Oregon, USA) via Book Depository. No condition issues at all, their single-book cardboard wrap packaging served its purpose. Very nice looking edition!

4000 copies of the book were printed, 8000 dust-jackets were printed.

Wow. Glad I got my Book Depository shipping notification today (having ordered it last Friday, I was beginning to get nervous)! Does BD actually keep inventory in a warehouse, or is it safer to order from Amazon at this point?

Still safe to order... just a "stock on hand" issue at tolkien.co.uk - they will have more in stock from the warehouse soon.

Pity they printed 8,000 jackets. Unlikely there will ever be a chance to correct the word spacing, etc, on the flaps (very minor, but would have been nice to have corrected if the chance had arisen).

I'd be surprised if it sells out rapidly, personally. 4,000 is not insubstantial. I think all the people who really want a copy should be able to get one with no drama (which is good, as the problem with a lot of special edition type printings is they are either too limited or too expensive for the average punter to consider).
