Tolkien replies to Miss Perry who had sent Tolkien a favourable review of The Lord of the Rings. He was very pleased and discusses it along with other publications. He likens The Lord of the Rings to The Battle of Maldon. He also makes note that his "Breton Lay", the take of Artrou and Itroun was published in Welsh Review.

Tolkien's translation of The Battle of Maldon and his sequel to it, The Homecoming of Beorhtnoth would finally be published together for the first time in 2023, edited by Peter Grybauskas (see reference below).
