Writing to Tolkien, Smith mentions that he has shown Tolkien's verse to H.T. Wade-Gery who is friends with them both. Wade-Gery enjoys Tolkien's poems and offers some critique which Smith passes on.

He plans to send his own, and Tolkien's verse to Gilson when he can. His battalion will be leaving before 12 April so if they are to gather for a meeting of the T.C.B.S. Tolkien must be in Oxford for Easter Sunday.

Wade-Gery likes the poem 'Why the Man in the Moon came down too soon'.
