Tolkien had received a parcel, he thanks O'Loughlin and confirms it arrived safely. Tolkien has been very busy and had flu recently, hence his delayed reply. He writes on the first day of the new term. Tolkien talks about the current affairs of the college, 3 fewer professors. Oxford is a tough place to be working at the moment, and Tolkien wishes he could get away.
