TCG Letter #1359

Tolkien sends by registered post two maps, the 'General Map', and 'Part of the Shire'. Both of these maps were drawn by Christopher Tolkien. Tolkien will note in his letter later that day^{Carpenter #143a: Letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to Allen & Unwin • 16 March 1954 (#1436)[1]} that Christopher has drawn the second with considerable clarity and is twice the size of the book so if it must be reduced in size he hopes it will retain the details.
