TCG Letter #1385 / Carpenter Letter #49c
From
J.R.R. Tolkien
To
Christopher Tolkien
Date
8 September 1943
Type

Transcript
Partial
Christopher had apparently been having a bad week, and Tolkien writes with his sympathies. He says to not spend “precious time” on letter writing, that a scribbled oddment would suffice, letting him know he is OK.
Tolkien has little to tell, but the weather is beautiful. He says of his “chances of writing ‘Hobbit’ – nil!”. He closes, asking if Christopher would like some apples and pears.
