TCG Letter #1404 / Carpenter Letter #94a

Tolkien says he is struggling with letters, many of which he should have written at Christmas. He complains that the weather is bitterly cold and he can not garden.
Tolkien is nursing a bad cold. He also notes that he has not done anything on the Lord of the Rings during the vacation.
He and Edith visited the cinema and saw the movie The Song of Bernadette^{https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Song_of_Bernadette_(film)[1]} which Edith was “anxious” to see.
