The BBC had expressed a desire to split Sir Gawain into six episodes but Tolkien does not think he can improve the divisions further. But after considering the matter further he believes five divisions with the longest part (third part) being split into two.
Tolkien also discusses the idea of using multiple voices and gives a number of at least voices being needed. He calculates the amount of lines for each reader and believes that having multiple voices would benefit the reading.
