Tolkien says he has had no time to revisit The Silmarillion, but hoping to in the near future.

He makes a point to thank Rayner Unwin for all his help in getting The Lord of the Rings published.

Tolkien comments on reviews he has seen of The Return of the King, with the bad ones mostly trying to "damn with faint praise" or being patronizing, and the good ones "make me blush to read".^{Chronology, p. 509[1]}
