November 1916 (#1562)[1] He is relieved to hear that Tolkien is "still alive". Tolkien is at this time recovering at 3 South General Hospital, Edgbaston, Birmingham.
He is hoping that he will have some time on leave soon and will visit Edith and Tolkien if possible.
