Replying to Tolkien's letter on the birth of his son, ^{Letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to Christopher Wiseman • c. Late November 1917 (#1597)[1]} Christopher Wiseman replies offering his congratulations. He insists that he is regarded as an uncle.

Tolkien had asked for more information on the article from the Times Literary Supplement and Wiseman gives more details on it.^{Wayne G. Hammond and Christina Scull note that Wiseman had "received several letters from Tolkien" but these ar enot recorded or contents known.[2]}
