Tolkien writes to George Sayer apologising for not thanking Sayer for his letter. Tolkien had received books late, missing a contract deadline. Tolkien took the books with him to Glasgow to give his lecture on Sir Gawain, which went well.
He has sent Sayer's blurb for The Lord of the Rings to GA&U and is immensely grateful to Sayer for this difficult effort.
Tolkien offers that he is very concerned for Jack. He hopes Sayer can manage a visit.
