Eileen Elgar wrote to Tolkien asking for information about The Silmarillion. Included in his reply was a nine page manuscript, with genealogical tree illustration and a two page letter of which a small section related to the poem 'Fastitocalon' was published as letter 255 in The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien.
Originally sold by Sotheby's in 1984, reproducing a few select quotes. Tolkien says (... I now enclose a long screed that I wrote in answer to your remarks about the poem called 'The Hoard', and also to give you some idea of what my proposed book, The Silmarillion is about...). The letter also discusses etymological questions arising out of translation of the High Elven tongue into Shire speech.
In June 2022 Heritage Auctions listed the letter and the manuscript 'Concerning... The Hoard' along with the genealogical table 'Kinship of the Half-elven' for sale on their website.
