Eames had written to Tolkien the previous day regarding galleys for The Lord of the Rings. Tolkien replies saying he will return all copies, "if it is likely to be unwanted".
Tolkien notes various alterations, including 'nasturtiums'. Tolkien asks for the copy sent in the green file-box to be returned. Tolkien mentions other corrections and asks if he needs to redraw the fire-letters for page 41.
