Walter Incledon, Uncle to Hilary and Ronald writes upon the death of Mary a couple of days previous. He is concerned about the mortgage in Mary's name and asks Hilary for details. Hilary would be unable to sell the land if that mortgage was not cancelled first. he offers to put Hilary in touch with Mary's lawyer.
