Marjorie Incledon writes in reply to Julian Tolkien's birthday wishes. She is pleased that he is enjoying home life and mentions Hilary's sketches which she enjoyed looking at. Hilary uses the travelling library, which she thinks is a great idea and notes that she has read Capability Brown, suggested by Hilary, and enjoyed it very much. She gives an update on Aunt Jane (Neave) spending time at Hassocks.
She finishes by saying that she does not want to go anywhere on vacation with Hilary and family at this time (presumably on a painting get away?), but sends her thanks and notes that they will make use of the luggage space.
