C. A. Furth writes to let Tolkien know that he is sending to him an advance copy of The Hobbit and asks if he would like more.
He notes that Houghton Mifflin Co. have been in touch. They say that Tolkien's jacket design has a very "British look". Houghton Mifflin assume that the example illustrations are intended for The Hobbit.
