Note on the dating of this letter: Humphrey Carpenter dated this letter as October 1914, and Wayne G. Hammond and Christina Scull dated the letter more closely to c. 23 October 1914 in the Companion and Guide: Chronology, but then redated the letter to c. 22 October 1914 on their website.https://www.hammondandscull.com/addenda/chronology2.html)[1]
