A reader had written to the Observer newspaper asking various questions on The Hobbit and Beowulf.See Carpenter #25: Letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to Editor of the Observer • 20 February 1938* (#28)[1] White sends a clipping of that letter to Tolkien and asks how his health is.
