Tolkien replies to Salmon. ^{Letter from C.V. Salmon to J.R.R. Tolkien • 23 November 1937 (#2110)[1]} He can meet him any time on Monday 29 November.

Hammond/Scull note that C.V. Salmon will visit Tolkien in Oxford on 29 November and that "Tolkien agrees to undertake the Beowulf broadcast." They further note that "the programme will consider Old English verse in general". Tolkien writes a minimum of four drafts.^{Chronology, pp. 220-1[2]}
