TCG Letter #2121
From

To
J.R.R. Tolkien
Date

Transcript

C.A. Furth writes to update Tolkien on their efforts to get the reprint of The Hobbit out for the Christmas rush. The demand for it is high, GA&U had to have the colour plates of his illustrations returned from Houghton Mifflin so they could reproduce them and get the originals back to the US to not effect the HMC editions production. Furth remarks that they had a private car collecting parts of the book so as not to have to wait for their printers van. Tolkien's corrections will be kept and used for the next reprint and Furth notes that two copies of the repirnt will be sent to him.
