TCG Letter #2239
From
J.R.R. Tolkien
To
Mrs Frost
Date
14 May 1955
Type
Autograph Letter Signed
Transcript
Complete
This letter was sent to a Mrs Frost in Ravello, Italy, who very much liked the first two volumes of The Lord of the Rings. Tolkien hoped she would also like the third volume. Tolkien remarks that the delay in publishing the third volume was because of his "rash promises" in the "First Volume" to include "subsidiary matter", and also his responsibilities to other matters, but all the material is now complete and with the "press".
