James Boatwright, editor of the journal Shenandoah, had previously requested a contribution from Tolkien for a forthcoming issue that would be dedicated to W. H. Auden. He had sent a book on Islamic art to Tolkien as a gift.
Tolkien writes that he is enjoying Mr. Boatwright's gift of the book. Tolkien also mentions that he has received a letter from W.H. Auden, who liked the issue of Shenandoah dedicated to him for his birthday, and Tolkien's contribution to it. Tolkien would like to get a copy of the issue himself.
