Tolkien replies to Miss Stanley-Smith of the Deddington Library and confirms he can attend and give a speech at the opening of the new library. He follows with some details about his own writing. He asks that a car be sent, as he no longer has one. He finishes by asking if Mrs. Lionel Hitchens is the mother of a Miss Phoebe Hitchens.
