To
C.A. Furth
Date

Transcript

Tolkien bemoans The Hobbit being published in 1937 over 1938. His work pressure has left him hard-pressed to get into actions on the sequel.

Tolkien has worked on Farmer Giles of Ham and it is now much longer, around 50%. He read it recently to his friends in the Lovelace SocietyEssay club at Worcester College, Oxford[1] and it was enjoyed very much.

He mentions that Mr. Bliss could possibly be published if GA&U had any interest.
