To
Katharine Farrer

7 August 1954

Tolkien expresses concerns about misprints in The Fellowship of the Ring. He highlights a disagreement over a botanical term, corrected by the printers.
The 2023 revised edition of Letters includes a few introductory paragraphs thanking Farrer profusely for her last letter, and talking about a particularly unflattering review and Tolkien's thoughts on it, and his joy at having friends who have warmly praised his new book. Tolkien mentions letters such as hers help him "endure such reviews as that of Lambert in the ‘Sunday Times’" - which was published on 8th August (the day after this letter is dated).
