To
Triode
Date
April 1960
Type

Transcript
Complete
Tolkien's letter, of which an extract is published in Triode 18 (May 1960) deals with the possibility of a film of The Lord of the Rings. Tolkien says that he has seen scripts and that only a great financial reward could convince him to allow a movie version. Tolkien includes himself in "the amorphous body of 'fandom'" but does not often "come across anything nowadays that seems very readable."
