Tolkien is pleased that Ward enjoyed the book. He says he is against dramatizations of his works, especially The Lord of the Rings which he feels is too long for reproduction. Tolkien believes that any such dramatisation would damage the story, but admits that his publishers interests must also be considered. He continues, saying that Allen and Unwin might still be interested in a proposal.
He closes with mention of an overdue contract and that he will be busy for weeks.
