Tolkien replies, thanking Mr. E. Rasdall for his interest in his writing and returns the copy of The Adventures of Tom Bombadil to be signed.
Tolkien explains that he likes to reply to letters of appreciation personally but the letter had ended up with his secretary and makes mention of how letters to him had become impossible to maintain explaining that "correspondence has become the chief delayer of The Silmarillion."
