Edith writes thanking Pamela Chandler for writing. It is the Professor's 75th birthday and he has received many cards, letters, and telegrams.
Chandler had to give up her cottage and Edith sends her regrets. She hopes she may find another that suits, especially for her dogs. She says of the Plimmer article that Tolkien is happy for her to do it and they would like very much to see her.
Edith is still unable to walk but treatment is going well.
