Tolkien says that Edith is much happier but for the terrible noise in the street. This noise was a constant issue for the Tolkien's and in August they will take shelter at their sons house for over a week, see Carpenter #134: Letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to Rayner Unwin • 29 August 1952 (#350)[1] He says that they will move into the room he currently uses as an office as it is the quietest. He says it will have to wait until he is over the current “exam-crisis” which he is now tackling for the 13th or 14th time.
