TCG Letter #1560

Captain E. Munday, Adjutant of the 11th Lancashire Fusiliers, writes to Tolkien, in reply to his letter to Lieutenant-Colonel Bird. ^{Letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to Lieutenant-Colonel Bird • Between 30 October - 7 November 1916 (#1559)[1]} He says that while it cannot be guaranteed that Tolkien will be posted to the same batallion, he notes that he has included another letter, ^{Letter from Lieutenant-Colonel Bird / 11th Lancashire Fusiliers to The War Office commissions Office • 9 November 1916 (#1561)[2]} this other letter requests that Tolkien be posted to the 11th batallion and that Tolkien should pass this to authorities as soon as he is passed fit to return to service.

At this time Tolkien is in Great Haywood recovering.
