Wiseman writes to Tolkien on politics, and the war. Thanking Tolkien for his letter and more of his poems. He says that R.W. Reynolds thinks that Tolkien is influenced by Francis Thompson, and although he has studied Thompson, Wiseman does not see the connection.

Wiseman suggests that Tolkien write to Brigadier-General Sir John Barnsley (T.K. Barnsley’s father), who may be able to offer some assistance in this matter.

Wiseman refers to the address Tolkien is currently living at (59 St. John Street) as 'the Johnner' in this letter.Tolkien and the Great War, p. 49[1]

The letter is held among the 'Tolkien Papers, Bodleian Library, Oxford'.

Note on G.B. Smith: At this time, Tolkien and Wiseman were unaware that their friend and fellow T.C.B.S. member had died from his injuries sustained on 29 November.
