Writing to Stanley Unwin, Tolkien suggests that their next meeting should be in November, saying that the afternoon of the 10th is OK or that he is free all day of the 12th or 15th. He has spoken with C.S. Lewis, his next novel Out of the Silent Planet is contracted to J.M. Dent and he is obliged to offer it to them first.
