Hammond and Scull note^{Chronology, p. 257[1]} that there is a meeting of the English Final Honour School examiners on 13-14 July 1940, on which Warnie writes on the 20 July, giving his brother details of the happening of those meetings, including "many meals at the Golden Cross and pints in the courtyard". He mentions various members of the Inklings giving news on them.
