TCG Letter #2361

Noted in The War of the Ring, p. 40, and in Chronology, p. 849 is mention to a letter sent to Tolkien on which he wrote on the rear a "draft of a passage from The Lord of the Rings, Chapter 8 ‘The Road to Isengard’. No other details are currently known to us about the letter sender, or its contents.

In 'Summer-?Autumn 1942', Tolkien drafts more of the chapter 'The Road to Isengard' on the rear of this letter.^{Chronology, p. 271[1]}
