Basil Blackwell writes yet again to Tolkien on the matter of his translation of Pearl, which Tolkien has still not returned. Blackwell had asked about buying the copyright, and he now feels that it might be why Tolkien is not taking action on the matter. Feeling that Tolkien might feel, wrongly, that he is trying to take advantage of Tolkien's precarious financial position. He proposes a royalty arrangement.
Tolkien will reply immediately. Letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to Basil Blackwell • 1 September 1944 (#2415)[1] He does not feel taken advantage of and remarks on the introduction.
