Tolkien describes how treespoplars[1] look at this time of year, and mentions that he will be meeting C.E.B. JoadCyril Edwin Mitchinson Joad, 1891-1953 was an English author working in the area of philosophy. He was based at Blliol College but later become a civil servant. See reference for more information on him.[2] the next night for dinner, hosted by C.S. Lewis.The dinner is mentioned in Chronology, but this letter is not.[3]
