Tolkien thanks Eileen Elgar for her card and sends her a copy of his "verse" which he describes as an American copy but printed in England.
Tolkien apologises for not having a copy to give her when they met on 14 October. Elgar asked questions about The Adventures of Tom Bombadil that Tolkien gave her along with this letter, and Tolkien replied on 5 March 1964, so this letter must be before then.Carpenter #255: Letter from J.R.R.
