Tolkien says that work is still getting in the way of him spending any time on The Silmarillion. He is having trouble with a professor in AmericaWrenn[1] as well as Professor Wilson's retirement.
He asks Rayner to come visit him soon, as he does not think he'll be able to make it to London in the near future.
Wayne G. Hammond and Christina Scull noteChronology, pp. 528-9[2] that Tolkien returns a letter from Het Spectrum, and has answered various queries from Max Schuchart concerning The Two Towers.
He also made some points after his reading of the Dutch Fellowship of the Ring.Het Spectrum is a Dutch publisher, who publish Tolkien's works in Dutch. Max Shuchart translated the first edition of The Lord of the Rings.[3]
