After receiving the script sent from Morton Grady Zimmerman Tolkien replies with (in parts) stinging criticism. He opens by apologising for sounding irritated but the handling of the story was careless. Tolkien gave a long criticism, noting multiple pages for harsh criticism. A masterpiece in criticism and what was wrong with Zimmerman's screenplay of The Lord of Rings.Noted at Marquette as a "letter by J.R.R. Tolkien to Forrest J. 'Ackerman and Others' (user photocopy) June 9, 1958."[1]
