J.R.R Tolkien correspondence concerning the dating of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. A scholorly edition of the work was published in 1925 by Tolkien and Gordon. Tolkien went on to do his own translation of the text later in his life. The set includes a three page typed letter from Mr. A. I. Mackay to Professor Tolkien with a detailed analysis of the terms used for armor and the dates that they first came into use.
