This important volume, published by B.H.Blackwell of Oxford in 1917, includes TWO significant literary firsts: J.R.R. TOLKIEN’s poem and first published work “Goblin Feet”, written in April 1915 for his fiancée (later wife) Edith Bratt, and ALDUS HUXLEY’s first published work, the poem “Homesickness….From the Town”, written in 1915 at age 20. This small, 8vo 7.5”x8” book shows wear to the cover (see ‘photos), has XIII plus 190 pages, and two additional pages of ads for Blackwell’s published works. The book has grey paper covered boards with blue cloth quarter bindings. It is an ex-library book, acquired by the City of Taunton (MA) in 1919,and subsequently discarded. It is otherwise unmarked. A great buy of a literary treasure!
