Condition: A good copy - The cloth covers are stained with some fading to the spine and rubbing and bumping to the edges. The pages are toned with some small pen scribbles to the textblock edges. The hinges have some cracking, with the front hinge a little loose.
Inscribed by Michael H. R. Tolkien for his daughter Judith, twice inside the book (on bookplates). Judith was the granddaughter of J.R.R Tolkien, the author of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, her father Michael was the second son of Edith and J. R. R. Tolkien. Michael was also an executor and director of the Tolkien estate after his father’s passing. A nice Tolkien family presentation and association copy. The revised eighth edition of 'Europe in the Seventeenth Century' by David Ogg published in 1961.
