This edition, published posthumously by Ida Gordon includes a contribution from professor Tolkien in part of the introduction - Form and Purpose in pages XI-XIX. Tolkien's contribution was reprinted in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight which I also have in my ebay shop. The poem is a Middle English dream vision, rich in allegory and theology, written in North West Midlands dialect. Gordon's edition is praised for its balance and thorough representation of the text, providing extensive commentary on linguistic theological and social aspects. Spine has no tilt and has kept all pages intact and present. Good Solid Bindings with no loose sheets. Pages have a light natural tan. All pages are crisp and clear throughout. Some Inscriptions/Notations in Pencil and Name to front. The book is solid and in Very Good Condition for age.
