The last open auction on eBay for a 1982 sold for just over £1k; and that's final price, unlike the 30% you'll have to add on here. The market is crazy right now, but a hammer price in excess of £1k is a gross waste of money in my opinion. Condition isn't clear either; this isn't an auction house that specilises in books.
So... factor of 10 maybe!

I take it this is an unsigned copy?
Weren't only the first 100 or so signed by Christopher Tolkien?
Yes, it's unsigned.
I wrote to ask more photos plus shipping info but got no answer... Doesn't sound good, we'll see.
Judging by how contradictory & muddled everything on their site is I'd be surprised if they're willing to ship this outside the UK. In terms of photos (for indication of general condition), it's really only that spine you'd maybe want a look at. Aside from this, a non-specialised dealer is unlikely to provide you with any greater insight into the condition; a few more photos would be good, but wouldn't stop me bidding. If I wanted another one of these...

Totally agree. I had doubled my estimate based on the market being nuts.

That estimate made me smile.
For half a second I thought I would be able to afford this item, but then I realized what a fool I was
Yeah it's really hard to tell from the pictures about the condition. I seem to be unable to register any cards on their website as well, anddddd I'm in the US. I'll take a hint and watch from afar ?
