I think it is interesting to note that Amazon UK is geoblocking the deluxe and trade editions if a USA shipping address is used, but they are pre-orderable if you have a UK shipping address (or potentially other markets, I didn't test beyond US and UK).

They did this with the recent Silmarillion Deluxe also.
But within a few weeks of release date this changed and you could preorder from non UK addresses.
I would like to share some more pics of the LotR 50th Anniversary Edition 2004, Contributor's Copy, a very special book.
It is one of only 30 presentation copies from HarperCollins, given as a gift to contributors of the 50th anniversary edition 2004 and never offered for sale officially.
So to say, this is a kind of template for the new Deluxe Edition. I'm very curious to see the differences between both editions in real life.

From the looks of the collector's edition slipcase for the new edition; the side-on image gives the impression that it'll feature that cut-out hole that was present for the '04/'05 collector's editions of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
I suspect for the most part it'll resemble this not for sale, limited-edition item.

How about I buy you the brand new deluxe edition and you send me that outdated copy?

I could offer the new deluxe and in a year the super deluxe of Goblin Feet with the tiny tiny slipcase
This is funny to say that this is how the other deluxe editions from 2004 to present should have look like...
