That is a very nice box-set.
It’s so new looking it looks fake. Kinda strange. I asked the owner why it’s condition is like this and he said it was in an air tight tote since 1970.
Hey all. Long time lurker, first-time poster, but today something arrived in the mail that I couldn't help but want to share: an absolutely stunning set of the Reader's Union LOTR. I've been searching for a good set but I never thought I'd find ones this pretty!
There is some slight tanning to the dust jacket's, especially the spines, and to the tops of the books, but there are no inscriptions, tears, stamps, or anything else to mar them. The maps are perfect. I'm genuinely stoked.

Very nice looking RU set. Also welcome to the site
Thanks for the welcome all! I've spent many hours here looking at other people's fantastic acquisitions, it feels good to finally have something worthy of a post

All acquisitions are worthy if you're happy with it

Very nice!
I’ve been looking for one for a while. Where did you buy this one from?
Also curious what you paid if I may. I’ve been going after a set and still thinking how high I should go.

That's a very nice set - as good as any you might hope to find. You're building a good range of UK LOTR hardbacks. What impressions are your first editions?

I bought it from a bookshop in Canterbury for just over £300 for them which seemed reasonable considering their condition. I have no idea if that's their market value, I just couldn't resist and would have paid more.

Thanks :) They're 8/7/7 and are in very nice condition, the dust jackets have some spotting and are slightly tanned especially on the spine but the books are wonderful: the red on top of the pages is really vibrant and they have very little foxing and no inscriptions or map tears.
