We can see and feel the passion your father brought to his collection. It's a pure joy to see. Thank you for sharing !
I feel like his father was likely known by some of the people here. Just seems like paths would've crossed as some of you were searching for some of these treasures.
Ah, excellent, you have found your way to TCG already!
Seeing these photos I can only envy and congratulate you, this is truly outstanding. And I can only echo what others have said here.

If the OP would like to share the name of their father/collector, that’s fine, but since they have not yet at this time let’s assume that is intentional.

Hello everyone, so I’m currently in the processing of finding a new home for many of Fathers books and other collectibles that are Tolkien related. I’m in the very early stages of this project and I’m still planning and figuring out what exactly he has. I’d love to have yalls insight and advice on the value of some of these, what to look out for (if you say something specific, there’s a decent chance ill have it). This will be a long and overwhelming process so be patient with me please while I take on this massive project, because when I say worlds biggest, this is not an exaggeration! Not sure how this site works but I’ll attempt to tag a few pics to show you the tip of the ice berg. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from all yall!
My email is [email protected]
I emailed you about that unbound Silmarillion. I suspect its one of a handful of such sets sent from GAU to Houghton Mifflin to serve as templates for the US printing. I have one such set and would love to compare notes. Take all the time you need to answer and again: your fathers collection is amazing. Thanks for sharing pictures with us here.
I had exactly the same idea. Perhaps it would be possible to bring it back to the Weston Library in Oxford for a short run? 6 weeks?
I don't have direct contact, but I could probably get the message to the Bodleian to ask if they would be interested. Or maybe the Estate or Trust?

Please keep this thread to advice on how to deal with the collection, and not discussing or speculating about the seller's family or exhibitions.

A “W” from Urulókë and Trotter! If you put a gun to my head and told me to pronounce your name correctly, I’m not surviving. But yeah, this ain’t really my crowd so I’d rather stay as low key and anonymous as possible. Thanks yall!
Hey yall, I have a bit of time today so I’ll try to get back to some of y’all who’ve emailed. Thanks for the patience! I’m gonna try to start making an inventory starting Monday. Anything that I can’t identify or I think is important, ill post here as well as some cute shelf pics like this. And the people wanting to borrow the books, I really don’t know about that, seems kinda sus. In the mean time, here is another random shelf pic to hold yall over today, lmk if see any bangers here! As always, Thanks for all the messages and support. Business will open eventually open, ya boy just needs some time!
